The first laps of Harewood Hill on the new Avon 046 from Nova Motorsport

It was an honour to be chosen by Nova Motorsport to test and provide feedback on the all new 046 GT compound slick. We worked with Avon Motorsport tyres for several years developing new compounds up until the factory in Melksham closed. Our Subaru is equipped with the latest motorsport sensors which coupled with our highly skilled data analyser Paul Blamire enables us to gather extensive information on just how good a competition tyre is. Using a full catalogue of Syvecs Motorsport electronics and Relentless Motorsport wiring we record data on par with that of an LMP car.

To fully test the capability of this new tyre there could be no better choice of venue than Harewood Speed and Hillclimb. Harewood Hill has it all, complex tight corners, camber changes and long sweeping high speed sections which extensively challenge the grip levels of any tyre.

So is this tyre any good? Can a new tyre manufacturer transport redundant equipment across Europe and reproduce the most successful compound ever used on a production based Hillclimb monster?

The answer is yes! Thanks to the skills of the professionals employed by Nova Motorsport and the incredibly committed quality control systems we have a tyre that is absolutely epic!

On a cold dry March test day we managed back to back 58 second runs at Harewood in a Modified production car

During the time that Avon Motorsport in the UK were closing down we received some tyres that were not quite up to the job, they were good and still way ahead on anything else available at the time but not like they used to be. Well these new Nova Motorsport manufactured 046 compound hillclimb slicks are better than they have ever been.
