Our relationship with AET started 10 years ago, we had been competing in the UK Time Attack championship and getting great results with a modified Garrett GT35R turbocharger in a rotated position. The turbo was laggy but that was normal wasn’t it? We tweaked the turbo a little here and there until 2019 and it was really good, good enough to take some significant wins and the car was quick.

We had the best turbo available for our application and then our world was turned upside down! Andy at AET suggested a new manufacturer of turbo charger, Xona Rotor turbo, who?
This is where trust came in, we were now in 2019 and Andy had proven incredibly knowledgeable on all things turbo charger related but we had a car that worked great why change? Being as modest as Andy is he said “I think a Xona on the Legacy will be a bit special” That man couldn’t have been more right, the move to the Xona Rotor 9564S was revolutionary, the response was insane, the lag has disappeared, the car was an absolute animal. Next came the records, Steven and Damien took to the wheel of the Legacy with the latest Xona Rotor turbo charger and the car was unstoppable, we were entering sprints across the UK and obliterating long standing records by as much as 8 seconds! Even in Portugal at the European Hillclimb Masters the car was on top form only missing out on the win to an F1 engined space frame silhouette.
For 2024 it was time to up our game, we forged our partnership with Andy and his team and the new AET livery was unveiled, a larger front cover on the 9564S turbocharger and some other tweaks would see us take the Closed Car Record at Shelsley Walsh, driver Damien couldn’t be more proud as he traveled back into the paddock to see Andy and all of Team Legacy. A fitting tribute to 50 years of AET Turbos and we have dedicated this run in the memory of the late Anthony Edmund Taylor, founder of AET Turbos.
But we are not done yet, AET are coming with us to Colorado! At the 103rd running of the Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hillclimb the Legacy will be running that same striking AET livery not only that but Andy and son Archie are joining us as part of the team. Andy, Mark Scott, Paul Blamire and the guys at Xona Rotor have been working on turbo options for the crazy altitude climb at Pikes Peak. We have a turbo fitted to the car but after testing in just a few weeks time we will make a call on making a change or not.

AET are a proper company with an incredible wealth of knowledge, amazing customer service and a product range to suit everything from a cruise liner to the UKs fastest Hillclimb cars. Give the team at AET a call and mention us for some extra love ❤️.
